There are many browsers based on the chromium project but till date no one managed to gain greater control of market share than Chrome. Though chrome project is open-sourced many people contribute to it to make it safe and available for others to be provided for free this also gives Chrome over Microsoft Edge(…considering this because Windows is a highly used OS) which likes to keep its source code proprietary.
Safari and Mozilla Firefox were also open-sourced but since Chrome was backed by Google people opted it later years down the lane that few people realized what they had done, since the record of Google in supporting products is not that good. IT HAS CLOSED LOTS OF PROJECTS AND ONE DAY IT WILL ISOLATE CHROMIUM.
Firefox was a good browser but was unable to sustain….So, the question comes why is google doing this. And the answer is simple to keep users on Chrome and preventing them to go to other versions of Chromium project.
Like Brave Browser which has started to gain popularity, how was Brave able to do that by using Google Ads they bombarded YouTube with how fast YouTube was with brave they gave cryptos too. But then this happened. Now, why is Google afraid of Brave and why did it closed account based sync services on third party browsers? So here comes the privacy in Brave you get back your privacy and it blocks ads by default ! Google has a large business over ads which due to Brave is getting affected. But even Brave is no good it is trying to gain its monopoly over the Ads business or so I think just on the basis of BAT and some ad-blocking scripts. See if you just thought of shifting to Brave you might now want to wait and watch ads.
If we see thoroughly current medium of ads exchange for content is correct but Brave’s way is also righteous for Creators but what if it again happens similarly. BAT currently has no api. Allowing other browsers to integrate it because currently Brave is thinking its own.
Meanwhile, Google wants that its monopoly in Browser history remains…So that later it can abandon chromium project and when all browsers stop existing they could simply rule over the internet having greatest powers, learn from recent feud in the US congress(no, I’m not supporting either , but this just demonstrates the power which resides in the big-tech-companies). That is what it is trying to do with small browsers forked out of chromium or implementing chromium.
Not only in browsers, in other areas too they try to be dominant but this battle is big. Stakes are high. Open-Source needs not to be supported by a company willing to do anything for its own benefits( ...not pointing to Google). Rather be independent for people’s good. Similar cases have arrived earlier also when GitHub (owned by Microsoft) tried out a deal with Arms makers and other million dollar companies.
If same things go on the earth might one day repulsion-ate all humans not just those doing harmful things. Because once someone said:
If you don’t try to stop a crime from happening you are equivalent to the one who committed the crime.
And while following the above quote it is important to remember this quote:
Hate the sin, not the sinner.
Thereby stating that people working at those companies(Microsoft, Google and other big-tech-companies) are no bad as they might seem deep below everyone is doing their best.
Let’s try to fix the mess we created.
